What They Are
Glow earrings (which are sometimes also referred to as glowing earrings, glow-in-the-dark earrings, or glow stick earrings) are earrings with special luminescent chemicals (chemiluminescence) inside that glows like a light when activated.
Common features of glow earrings:
- Come in one of 6 colors (red, green, blue, yellow, purple, pink) and have a neon-like glow
- The glow portion is plastic with a metal snap or safety pin at the top to connect the earring to your piercing
- Light-up by slighting bending the glow portion (in the same manner as a traditional glow stick)
- Come in one of 2 types:
- a “barbell” shape (also referred to as a “drop” or “dangling” earring) that is usually under 2 inches (5.08 centimeters) in length.
- a “hoop” shape that can be as much as 4 inches (10.16 centimeters) round.
